Back by popular demand, byMoonlight’s exciting new production of ‘EAST’ by Steven Berkoff will be running for two nights only at the cornerHOUSE, before a longer run in the new year.

What people have been saying:

“…potty mouth poetry at its best…an amazing production!”

“It is superb…make sure you see it.”

“Fab! Great acting…”

“A superb production…highlight of the festival.”

“The performance of East in the Rose Studio was on the best things I’ve seen in a long time.

“…definitely those who didn’t see it should head down now.”

About the company:

byMoonlight formed in the Summer of 2010 and last year put on two successful productions at the Lion & Unicorn: Gentlemen’s Barber written and directed by Andy Currums (the company’s resident playwright) and Terrorism by the Presnyakov Brothers, directed by Wayne Hughes. The Giant Olive Theatre Company was so impressed that they offered us an extra week’s run of Terrorism. Survivors by Andy Currums premiered at the International Youth Arts Festival in July 2011 to thrilled audiences.

Following their success, byMoonlight are now delighted to present a dynamic take on the modern classic East. byMoonlight provides a forum for young talented actors to explore modern classics with an exciting and energetic approach – using movement, dance, mime and song – thrilling the senses and grabbing the emotions. This highly talented company’s interpretation of East relies heavily on Berkoff’s rhythms, character dynamics and soulful wit – interpolated with music and movement – there is no reserve and no embarrassment!

As result of their sell-out run at the Rose Theatre Studio, byMoonlight performed at the New Wimbledon Theatre Studio which was again a sell-out success. The cornerHOUSE Community Arts Venue gave them another forum to present East, which had them queuing at the door! East is now returning for a second time to the cornerHOUSE for two nights only. Don’t miss out!

Growing out of the ashes of the original Lancaster Jazz Festival, we showcase the best experimental and contemporary jazz from the UK as well as local and original community talent. Set annually in September and now heading into its third year, we’re now offering a wider range of artists and jazz.

With the success of last year’s festival with artists such as Fractures, Grew Quartet, Huevos, The Initiative and Matt Postle (to name a few) hitting the stage, this year’s festival promises to bring the best the North West has to offer on the jazz scene and much much more…

Spread over four days, the new Lancaster Jazz Festival is breaking out into more venues with a greater variety of artists and jazz. 17th September announces the start of the 2011 Jazz Festival with a PRE-FESTIVAL PARTY, showcasing local talent The Initiative with Matt Robinson, Dave Shooter and Lily Whitfield and Matt Johnson Funk Society. 9:30pm , The Storey Institute.

It all started in 1985. Stella & Pat Carey who at the time ran the Hertford Tavern (now Relate) heard that the former Antelope Motorcycle Club was available for purchase. After an agreement was reached, Careys was borne and operated as a private members club with live music and DJs until 1am.

It was in 1993 when the Carey family took the decision to create something spectacular with a massive investment, which included extending the premises beyond recognition, and creating the venue that stands to this day.

Since the launch, our award-winning venue has hosted DJs, Comedians and Bands that were considered to be way above our capacity. Our wish has always been that Careys is known for the unexpected, and to be proud that customers could call Careys a way of life rather than just another Nightclub.

We hope that you have some good memories from our venue. We always aim to give high standards, have well trained staff, and give the best possible experience with value and safety. We hope that this shows in our efforts.

We owe it to you, our customers, and we cannot thank you enough for your support over the last 25 years. We hope that we can continue to serve & entertain you and yours, for another generation.
